A story everyone should read...

I don't often get too grim on these posts, obviously. But this story is waaaayyy too grim to ignore. (Forward it to friends--and let everyone know)...

The Smoking Gun

Did you enjoy this post? Buy me a warm cup of joe.

That's one of the most horrid things I've ever heard.

Look at those people -- why in the world do they imagine that they are any better than anyone else?

I hope that poor woman can recover emotionally from this. I'm already having nightmares from reading about it.

I want to feel guilty about not knowing about this when I did know about Michael Vick and the dogs, but, honestly, I can only know what's made available. Why this isn't big news is a travesty. It says a lot about how we as a nation feel about animals and celebrities versus how we feel about our fellow humans.

Thanks for bringing this to the table. I know it's rough to talk about The Serious when it's not your normal format.

Wow, that is seriously fucked up. How does that stuff still go on?

Nothing I say could adequately convey how sick this makes me feel.

A quote by Leonard Cohen sums it up.
"Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
has crossed the threshold
and it has overturned
the order of the soul
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant

Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's left
and stuff it up the hole
in your culture
Give me back the Berlin wall
give me Stalin and St Paul
I've seen the future, brother:
it is murder.
Things are going to slide ...

There'll be the breaking of the ancient
western code
Your private life will suddenly explode
There'll be phantoms
There'll be fires on the road
and the white man dancing
You'll see a woman
hanging upside down
her features covered by her fallen gown
and all the lousy little poets
coming round
tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson
and the white man dancin'

I've seen the future, baby:
it is murder

Things are going to slide ... "

those purty boys are going to be fresh meat for a long while once word gets out while doin time. and all i can say is GOOD!

^Raffi - Doesn't that make us as bad as them?! To wish something like that on someone else.

What they did was disgusting and inexcusable but someone else doing that to them is just as inexcusable...

An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind.

I read briefly about this the other day over here. I was disgusted. It reminded me of another case that happened in Indiana (I think) about 50 years ago. They've just made a film based on it called 'The Girl Next Door'.

This was widely covered in the news the latter part of the week and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Thank God she lived to tell about it.
There seemed to be a question as to whether this was racially motivated or not...DUH? if it walks like a duck and talks like a most likely is a duck.

Another disturbing story is the one from Jena Texas where the 6 young black men were arrested after a fight under the school tree. They were charged with attempted murder.
The whole disagreement began when someone left a noose hanging from the tree.
Where in the hell was the FBI, this is clearly a case of racial intimidation but Nooooooooo the white sheriff decided to charge the 6 young blacks who faced up to 15 years in prison.
He was quoated as saying I'll punish you to the furthest extent of the law.
Thank God the media has been carrying this story, Rev Al Sharpton and a large group of people are said to be going there this week for a demonstration.
The judge has already thrown one of the charges out.
I think this sheriff should be thrown out of office and sued for wrongful arrest.
Btw, what took Jackson and Sharpton so long to get involved?
The noose story should've sent redflags arcoss the nation.

This was a terrible tragedy and one in which I hope justice prevails. The attorney general for that state should get involved to ensure justice for this victim and others in similar circumstances. This article may only signify the proverbial "tip of the iceberg" unfortunately. I am sure there is much more that we will never know.

Argh! This is awful beyond words and it infuriates me! As a former Southerner, many folks wonder why Southerners are thought of as being backwards and ignorant, and they wonder why I make fun of the South so much. Gee, does this explain anything? This kind of behavior is beyond intolerable, embarassing to my fellow Southerners, and despicable. I cannot think of a punishment suitable enough for these creatures.

And that three women were involved!! It boggles the very mind that women would be involved in the sexual abuse and humiliation of a fellow woman.

No punishment is good enough.
